A weekend trip to South America...

South America at the Hattiesburg Zoo that is. Garrett and I went to visit his Nana this weekend. While we were there, we took Garrett on his first trip to the Hattiesburg Zoo. This is a zoo that I used to frequent as a small child before moving. It was only fitting that I was now taking my little one for his first visit. I was really surprised at how much this "little zoo" had grown up.
I have to add, It felt like South America out there! It was hot. If it wasn't for all the new shady walk ways, we might not have made it. I had to poor out Garrett's juice and load it up with some cold ice water.
He basically kept this same look on his face all day. He was just amazed by all the animals. His favorite exhibit was the Prairie Dogs. I loved how we could just stand him up on the little concrete wall and let him look over.

It was a great being able to share something from my childhood with my little boy! With the exception of the extreme heat, it was a great trip! Of course Garrett also came home with quite a bit of loot from the gift shop. I guess when you only pay a $2 admission, the gift shop more than makes up for it! Thanks for taking us to the Zoo Nana!
